The
Boy's Lacrosse team was formed in 2004 at DeSales High
school. This will be our fifth season and we are looking
to build upon our past successes and the growing popularity
of the sport in central Ohio and at DeSales.
The
Stallions Lacrosse Team is a Varsity sport run by the
parents of the players who play the sport and other
volunteers who wish to continue building this exciting
sport at DeSales. The sport is self-sustaining whose
purpose is to develop and promote a quality lacrosse
team at St. Francis DeSales High School. As a Varsity
sport, all academic eligibility and student conduct
codes apply.
The
Stallions Lacrosse team moved to Division 2 in 2006
and will compete in this division again in 2008. There
will be 3 divisions for Ohio boys' high school lacrosse
in 2008 named Division 1, 2, and Club. Each division
will be further divided into regions. Our game schedule
will be available in March.
The
Stallions Lacrosse team is a formal 501(c)(3) organization
and therefore all donations are tax deductible. The
board members that will stand for election for the 2008
season are:
- Nancy
Sarson - President
- Dan
Grassbaugh - Treasurer
- Jim
Kenny
- Kelly
Gill
- Steve
Wetta
Season
The lacrosse season is in the spring from March until
May. Our first conditioning practice will occur in February
without sticks. Our first game will be played on or
after March 24th and the season will end near the end
of May. The divisional tournaments will begin in late
May and end in the first week of June.
Practices
The team practices are mandatory and occur Monday-Friday
and on selected Saturdays. Practices are normally conducted
from approximately 5:15 - 7:15PM during the week and
on Saturday morning when they occur. Practices will
be at St. James the Less. We will be having mandatory
practices during spring break week. The team will expect
all players to be in attendance for the practice and
games. While we understand that families take this opportunity
to travel, we also will have games right after spring
break ends and we must be competitive. Failure to attend
the practice will result in lost playing time or other
actions at the discretion of the coach.
Games
High school lacrosse games are now played on any day
of the week. There will be between 12 - 15 games scheduled
in our season. We usually have 1-2 games per week. We
anticipate taking an out of town trip to play in a tournament
or play a couple of teams from another state. We will
probably play one or two games on either Friday evening
or Sunday afternoon to accommodate traveling teams.
Our schedule will be developed to play many teams in
central Ohio. We must play all of the teams in our region
and we will also play teams in other divisions with
similar experience levels. High school games consist
of 4-12 minute quarters and last approximately 90 minutes.
