Matt
is native to Columbus, graduating from Dublin
Coffman High School in 1996. While at Dublin,
Matt was a captain his senior year playing close
defense and finished his high school career playing
in the All-Ohio senior All-star game.
Matt
went on to play long stick midfield for The Ohio
State University, winning a conference championship
with a 10-3 record and a top 15 national ranking
with the Buckeyes in 1999, the first championship
since the mid-1980's and the 2nd best man-down
defensive unit in the NCAA in goals against average.
After
graduation, Matt has been playing with the Columbus
Lacrosse Club, winning championship titles in
2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006. The team is currently
undefeated the past three seasons, the last loss
coming in 2004. Matt has also played internationally,
playing for Team UK lacrosse, winning European
championships in Amsterdam in 2003 and London
in 2004.
Matt's
coaching career began in 2000 at his alma mater,
Dublin Coffman and remained for 5 seasons as head
defensive coordinator. After a 48-21 record and
2 Division 1 final four appearances, Matt took
over as the head coach at St. Francis Desales
in 2005. Matt feels the pride and athletic traditions
at St. Francis Desales will prove to be a successful
environment for the new tradition of lacrosse
being established today.
